Home Oxygen Therapy

Home oxygen therapy provides supplemental oxygen to help support your breathing when your body is not getting enough oxygen on its own. While oxygen is commonly used in hospitals, many patients also use oxygen safely at home with the proper equipment, instruction, and support.

Oxygen may be delivered through different types of home respiratory equipment, depending on your prescription and medical needs. Most commonly, oxygen is provided through a nasal cannula, which uses small prongs placed in the nose, or through an oxygen mask. In some cases, oxygen may also be connected to other prescribed medical equipment, such as a CPAP, BiPAP, or ventilator.

When used as directed by your physician, oxygen therapy can help improve comfort, support daily activity, reduce shortness of breath, and help you maintain a better quality of life. Understanding how your oxygen equipment works, how to use it safely, and when to contact your healthcare provider can help you feel more confident and comfortable with your therapy.

If you have questions about your oxygen equipment, supplies, setup, or safety instructions, please contact A&R Medical Supply for assistance.
